These days the statistics of teenage drug use is rising. Parents are at their wits end of what to do. Sometimes, by the time the parents find out about the drug use, it may be too late. Those who find out in time will be able to send their children to a teen drug rehab for treatment. Teenage drug abuse seems to plague those between the ages of 14 to 19 years of age. The abuse of drugs is some of the reasons why teenagers commit violent crimes, murder and rape. Anxiety and depression is oftentimes caused by the extended use of drugs by teenagers. Some of the signs of drug abuse by teenagers are the withdrawal from family members and friends. Drops in their grades and overly aggressive behavior are also some subtle signs to look for. Signs to look for that may appear physical in nature would be redness in the eyes, continuous coughing, and change in eating habits as well as sleeping patterns. Teenagers who come from a family that has a history of drug addicts are also inclined to follow in that path, if they are misguided. A teenager that does not have good social skills may resort to withdrawing from society. They may also be interested in experimenting with drugs to help them to cope with their inadequacies, as they think. When a teenager becomes preoccupied with drugs, their school work suffers, mood swings result and performance on the job is noticed. When a child begins to use drugs, it not only affects that child, but the entire family. It has become a tremendous concern to not only parents, but to school administrators as well. Teen drug rehab treatment programs are equipped to handle the symptoms and result of drug addiction. Teens who do drugs are susceptible to being unnecessarily irritable, anxious and physically unhealthy. Some will suffer from loss of memory and problems in learning. Parents are not usually equipped to handle their first indication that the child is doing drugs. Some will punish the child or provide discipline that does not work. Instead of finding out the reason why their teenager is doing drugs, they think that it is because of defiance. Parents need to be educated at teen drug use. They need to learn the effects of drug use and conduct research on how to best help their child to quit the habit. Quick action is required once you find out that your teenager is doing drugs. There are various teen drug rehab treatment programs across the United States and around the world to choose from. The first thing to do is to do extensive research and ask pertinent questions that will give you enough information to meet your teenager's particular needs. Your child will meet with a medical doctor on admission and be subjected to detox treatment. This will help to get all or most of the drugs from their system. The medical doctor will also advise the parents of any health issues that the teen may have. The doctor supervises the detox treatment to make sure that it is administered properly. The teenager will then be put through counseling, behavioral therapy, group therapy sessions and raining in social and life skills. Teenagers who do drugs and enter a treatment program have to follow the rules and regulations of the rehab center. An aftercare program is usually recommended once the treatment has been completed. It is critical that the parents give the child attention and do some family therapy after treatment. |
