Naples Addictions Statistics

The city hosted a population of 21,653 on 1st July 2007, and is a principal city of the Naples-Marco Island Metropolitan Statistical Area. This county seat has several beaches to boast of, along with great educational centers and various other attractions. However, there is no denying that its 10 mile long white sand beach is a huge attraction for tourists who flock in to take in the warm sun that this region offers. However, apart from the warm sun, Naples also is known for its scary crime rate and most of these crimes have drugs related to them somewhere or the other.

Some areas in Naples, like the Golden Gate, Naples Park and even Immokalee, witness a high level of drug related instances, but this does not mean that the problem is restricted to this region. The so called rich pockets of the city also see a lot of drug users. Right from illicit drugs like cocaine, heroine and marijuana to party drugs and even prescription drugs, the city sees it all. The proximity with Mexico also adds to the problem, since all of Florida is used by the dealers of Mexico to transport the drug towards the interiors of the national.

Most of the time, these drugs are taken by unsuspecting victims as a form of recreation, however all of the drugs mentioned above have an addictive nature and within no time the person finds that giving up the habit is a complete impossibility. It is also true that many addicts live in denial and continue to kid themselves about being in control. The desire for the substance and the persistent need to keep increasing the dose tends to either lead the addict to the emergency room or the prison or worse still, to the morgue.

In an attempt to rid Naples of this overwhelming drug situation, the government has decided to take several steps. Just recently, 8 persons selling illicit drugs were nabbed by the local police after a year long attempt to catch them red handed. While the law and order of the area has been stepped up, several rehabs have also been launched. Many of these rehabs are state funded and allow even those who cannot afford to pay for their addiction treatment to get help for their problem. Right from Christian rehabs to those following the 12 step program, the Naples area provides for it all.

These attempts have bought down the crime rate of the Naples area to 238 for every 10,000 people, which make the city the 26th lowest crime ranked city of Florida. The future seems bright for Naples, when it comes to drug addiction treatment. The rehabs here are doing very well and most of them boast of a 70% success rate. The relapse rate has also been curbed significantly. These rehabs offer in-house and well as outhouse patient programs making it easy for almost anyone to reap the benefits that the rehab offers. So heres looking forward to a drug free environment in Naples.
