Revere was established by the Native Americans of the Pawtucket Tribe who were called Rumney Marsh Indians, but the tribe was completely destroyed in an epidemic in 1616, after which the leader of the tribe moved to a place near Mystic River.

Revere is known as the place where the first naval battle of the American Revolution was fought in 1775. Revere MA also finds frequent mention in the novels of Stephen King.

The Revere society is in the grip of the problems of underage alcoholism and substance abuse. Alcoholism and drug abuse statistics reveal that 75% teenagers of this city hold their first glass of spirit before the age of 14, which makes them more susceptible to turn into alcoholics by the time they reach their 20s.

According to the studies conducted by the local healthcare authorities, about 88% of the teenagers of the city have tried tobacco before they turned 13, 70% of the teens in the city have tried marijuana before the age of 13, and 88% of all parents of teenagers still believe that their kids have stayed away from drugs and alcohol.

The Revere Cares group believes in the philosophy that if the whole community works in collaboration to say no to drug abuse and alcohol, then it can surely help in controlling the substance abuse epidemic.

Revere Cares has been trying to increase community awareness about the problem of alcoholism and substance abuse by placing banners throughout the city, publishing ads in newspapers, and conducting debates and discussions on the problem of substance abuse on local media channels.

To curb the problem of underage alcoholism, the Revere Police Department has joined hands with Revere Cares to conduct annual awareness campaigns like the Power of Know, Parents who Host, Lost the Most, and Sticker Shock. Revere Cares has also urged local authorities to restrict the number of liquor licenses which are issued to sell beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages.
