  • Citizens of Idaho have easy access to cocaine which is readily available on the streets. However, depending on the purity of the cocaine, this drug can prove to be very expensive for the average user. Hence, meth and crack which are more pocket friendly and are available at a price of about $30 and up for a gram, are fast becoming the most favored drugs of the masses
  • Brown heroin and Mexican black tar is commonly available in Idaho. These drugs are brought into Idaho by drug smugglers, who hide them in vehicle compartments. Heroin is mostly brought into the state from the southwestern states through road or by air.
  • Methamphetamine is certainly becoming the most abused substance in Idaho. Meth substance abuse is common across all the sections of society. The proactive efforts of the state law agencies have brought a significant decrease in the number of meth labs operating in state. However, meth is still readily available in the state, and most of it is brought in from California, the Yakima Valley region in Washington, and from Mexico. Crystal methamphetamine, which is considered to be the purest form of meth, is also available in aplenty. Crystal meth is being brought into Idaho mainly from Nevada and California.
  • Marijuana is the second most abused drug in the state after meth. Marijuana is not only exported into the state, but is also grown on the public land in Idaho. Marijuana is also being brought in from Mexico, but it is not preferred by many drug addicts.
  • MDMA or ecstasy, ketamine, LSD and other club drugs are very popular among teenagers and adolescents in Idaho. This club drug, which promises to fill the users with loads of energy so that they can party all night, is most commonly abused by pub and party goers. Most of the MDMA which is available in Idaho is being brought in from Seattle.
  • Prescription drug addiction and pharmaceutical drug abuse are other problems plaguing Idaho society.  People are increasingly making use of narcotic pain relievers like Oxycontin, stress relievers, stimulants, and drugs like Hydrocodone and Benzodiazepines for substance abuse. Drug addicts make use of prescription drugs to satisfy their cravings, as these drugs are readily available, are easy to procure, and are also much cheaper than street drugs.
