Hialeah Drug Addiction Statistics
This Miami-Dade County houses the second largest population of Cuban and Cuban American residents. The most amazing aspect of Hialeah is that it is the second densest city in USA that does not have a skyscraper. However, despite great weather and even good houses, the population in Hialeah actually declined in the past, mainly due to the high drug crime rate that the city sees.
One of the main problems of the city is the easy availability of illicit drugs. While it is true that prescription drugs are also causing a stir in Hialeah, it is drugs like cocaine, heroine, marijuana, etc that seem to be sucking out the soul of the city. The situation is serious enough for the city to declare these drugs as the highest reason for accidental deaths. With the Miami-Dade County leading in the number of cocaine and heroine overdose deaths, it comes as no surprise that the authorities in Hialeah are more than just worried about the situation.
Statistics indicate that the situation is indeed worrisome. The district saw 202 deaths in the year 2008 that were caused by cocaine alone or in combination with another drug. Heroine is another deadly killer in the region with 33 deaths being caused by this awful drug in 2008. Marijuana and methadone do their fair share of damage too. There is no denying the fact that unless an effective and proactive plan is adopted, breaking this drug nexus is going to be a very difficult job.
The largest threat of the Hialeah area is cocaine. The drug is produced in Miami and often transported to other parts of USA using Hialeah as a transportation center. This leads to an easy availability of the drug. Sadly not many people, especially kids, realize that cocaine is the most addictive of all drugs and therefore what begins as a trial ends up as a full blown addiction. The craving for the drug takes over the victims mind and body and nothing else makes sense apart from the need for cocaine.
Thankfully there are several rehabs that have stepped in to solve the drug problem of Hialeah. These rehabs offer several types of programs and work on the addicts in order to rid them of their addiction. Depending upon the level of addiction, the patient is able to work with an in house program or one that allows the addict to say outside the premises of the rehab.
The central idea of all the drug rehabs of Hialeah is to help the victims to not only rid their system of the addiction but also put their lives back together so as to avoid a relapse. These drug rehabs try and provide the patient with a holistic treatment plan and herein lies their success. Instead of targeting only the physical aspect of the addiction, the rehabs tend to provide psychological care also.
The ill effects of illicit drugs go way beyond physical damage. Children loose their families, emotional ties are broken and many addicts will loose their dignity and self respect to these drugs. The only way to seek treatment for the problem is to seek help from drug rehabs in cleansing the body and mind of the addiction.
