Drug Rehab Statistics Shows An Increase

The addiction of drugs is very serious and should not be taken lightly. It is not something that can be solved in a few minutes. The prevalence of drug abuse is obvious and in the society that we live in, it has become second nature to so many people including young adults. A lot of people can identify when a person is doing drugs, but in some instances, it may be hard to tell, especially if the person knows how to hide it well enough.

There are some who will see it and not want to deal with it as if it is not their problem. Maybe that is why drug rehab statistics are so alarming and a lot of drug addicts go without getting the treatment that they need.

Even the smallest town in the United States has residents living there that take some type of drugs. No one is eliminated from the exposure to drug abuse. For those who struggle with the problem of drug addiction, there is help whether it is a small town resident or not.

There are drug treatment programs that include help for patients who want to be part of a residential program or outpatient program. The typical time period for most treatment programs are between 30 to 90 days.

It depends on how hard the person is struggling to recover from the drug addiction. Some rehab treatment programs are faith based, which means that they include treatment that specifically targets the inner man. They tend to start first on the inside and work their way out because the person's problem may be more internal than exterior.

Some people may turn up their noses at the problems that the United States is experiencing with drugs. They may think that the drug rehab statistics reported is an exaggeration because the media wants to get more viewer attention. However, at the looks of every thing and the figures given by the DEA, it does seem to be that drug problems are escalating in America.

According to the DEA, teenagers make up thirty percent of the population that abused drugs in the year 2001. In the same year, a poll was taken of individuals who were of ages 18 to 25 and the result proved that more than fifty percent of them used drugs.

In the year 2004 alone, there were more than nineteen million people in the United States who were past 12 years old that used illegal drugs at some time and those past 18 years old in that same year made up more than sixteen million people in the United States that used illegal drugs.

In a 2007 national survey done by the OAS (Office of Applied Science), there were about 20% of people in the 18 year old bracket that made an admission to using illegal drugs within 30 days of taking the survey.

Of all the illegal drugs used during that period, the second most used drugs is marijuana and was used by about 16% of this group. In the survey, it was reported that the illegal drug abuse mostly consisted more of the male gender.

According to most statistics, drug users in America have used some type of drugs even once in her lives. This is true both for teenagers and adults alike.
