Making It Easier For The Drug Rehab Intervention Process |

|
Drug rehab intervention happens when family members and friends get involved in the process of getting their loved one off the streets and into a rehab program that will help them to kick their drug habit. Most of the time, the drug addict will deny that they have a problem and may not be interested in getting any professional help. Intervention comes when all else has failed and the family member are fearful of an outcome that spells death. No one is able to reach the drug addicts except the family members who know where to find them. They are given some kind of excuse why they should appear at the home of a specific family member. This is the only way to get them to cooperate. During the 1980's, marijuana was the drug of choice except later on when cocaine and crystal methamphetamine became more popular. It is the harder drugs that made it more realistic for family members to see drug rehab intervention for their loved ones because these drugs were hard to quit. Getting the person that is doing the drugs to the appropriate location should be easy if you use a location that is familiar and makes sense to them. A confrontation may ensue, but it is better to have a confrontation than to wait to face an episode of drug overdose and possibly death. It is advisable that the person that is about to be introduced to drug intervention methods should be allowed to remain calm and cool. It is especially beneficial for the drug addict to listen to what each family member has to say about their drug addiction. The drug addict is then able to say what they are feeling about the situation and either accept or reject the offer of drug rehabilitation. Some intervention methods are quite aggressive and may be rejected by the drug addict because of the aggressive measures that are to be performed. Some of them are drastic enough to require getting the drug addict on a plane immediately with just a few items of clothing. By the time of drug rehab intervention, the family is desperate for something good to come of it and will do whatever it takes to make sure that their loved one gets the help that is needed to get well. Some will even snatch their loved one away from their drug location to get them the help that they need. During this period, the drug addict is confused and everything is happening so fast that it appears to be something in a dream. However, the family is keen on getting them into rehab and will not allow anything to stop their progress. There are some reported cases that the drug addict may put up a lot of resistance and refusal, but yet still go ahead with the rehab program. After the treatment has been completed, they will definitely thank the people that made it possible. The first two weeks are probably the toughest for the drug addict, but with proper medical care, counseling and therapy, it should be an easy transition. Family visits also help to make the process much easier. |
