Darvocet is the "common" name for the opiate Dextropropoxyphene which is made by combining propoxyphene and acetaminophen. In the United States, it is only available via prescription. Like most prescription drugs, recreational darvocet addicts ingest a much higher dose than someone who is only using the drug to combat a physical ailment. Ironically, darvocet is often prescribed to help people overcome their addictions to other types of opiates. This means that it is entirely possible to develop a darvocet addiction while working through an addiction to other drugs like heroin or even codeine. Currently the efficacy of darvocet is being studied by the Federal Drug Administration. This is because the drug is volatile and can easily cause problems in the liver and stomach. Some people who have taken prescribed darvocet have suffered from seizures and cardiovascular depression. A recent study by the Federal Drug Administration revealed that at least a quarter of all drug related deaths in Florida. The drug already is prescribed with a black box warning which warns users to exercise extreme caution when using the drug. The simple truth is that darvocet can be dangerous to darvocet addicts. All addictions are dangerous, but people suffering from darvocet addiction can react badly when darvocet is combined with a great deal of common materials and many people overdose from using the drug before they realize that their bodies are having adverse reactions. As prescribed, a single darvocet tablet can contain a near toxic level of acetaminophen (Tylenol). Like with codeine, many people suffer from darvocet addiction because they fail to wean themselves from the drug correctly. Many physicians advise that darvocet users to gradually take less and less of darvocet to avoid developing a darvocet addiction. Trying to stop using the drug all at once by a darvocet addict can induce darvocet withdrawal symptoms and lead to a psychological addiction to the drug as well as a physical addiction. One of the reasons that darvocet addiction is so prevalent is that the drug often produces the same positive feelings of euphoria that other drugs like methamphetamine produce. Like those other kinds of drugs, the first "good trip" on darvocet is hard to recreate. Over time it takes more and more of the drug to have the same effect and that initial sense of euphoria is almost never experienced again—though it won't be for lack of trying. Darvocet addiction is hard to overcome but with darvocet drug rehab centers it can be done. Some of the common signs of darvocet addicted people are an inflated sense of self confidence that the user does not usually experience, strangely altered levels of activity: unexplainable stretches of sleeping followed by unexplainable levels of frenzy and odd changes in the user's mood. One of the most easily recognizable symptoms darvocet addicted people is the user's preoccupation with the drug: how much of it they have left, whether or not they will be able to obtain more, frequent visits to a doctor in hopes of gaining another prescription, etc. If you or someone you love is facing a darvocet addiction, remember there is help available from professional and reliable Christian drug rehab and alcohol treatment center.
