The Number of Addictions Occurring in the Medical Profession

Being a doctor or a nurse does not mean that you are immune to drug and alcohol addiction, a fact thats been proved many times over. It is actually a lot easier for these medical professionals to feed an addiction if they have one that involves narcotic pain killers. The news has had stories of many health care providers that have lost their positions and their licenses to practice because of taking prescriptions drugs. The best medicine for these kinds of addictions is found at a christian treatment center.

The tremendous stress that many doctors and nurses are under is one reason that becoming dependent on a drug that gives a euphoric kind of energy is so addicting. One reason their addiction can be worse than ever is because they have easy access to the narcotics that those outside of this sort of profession have trouble getting regularly. Their addiction is fed more so than even the worst addicts on the street.

How does a professional in the medical field get by with taking so many narcotics? For nurses attending patients that are prescribed narcotics, getting pills is as easy as taking candy from a baby. In many cases, a patient is supposed to take two painkillers at a time. When the nurse gives out meds, then one of those pills is put in their pocket while the patient gets one. Of course, it is documented that the patient got two. The nurse is covered completely. The same can be true for a doctor.

For anyone that is hooked on narcotic pain killers, the dread of withdrawal symptoms can keep them addicted for a long time. Even those that are trained in medicine and know more than anyone the damage being done, the lure of that head buzz is too great to worry about side effects. Taking pills is an easy way to handle the aching legs and back pain that is associated with those long hours on the floor of a post surgical ward. Pills ease the tension of dealing with death and sickness every single day.

Getting hooked is easy for anyone that is vulnerable while under a lot of pressure. Getting help for this stress and an addiction can be done successfully at a christian treatment center. God guided those same doctors and nurses through medical school. He was the reason they made it to where they began their addiction. Whether these addicts know it or not, God id the only way back to the way they were before an addiction took over.

The hardest part for a medical professional during recovery from a narcotic drug addiction is going back to work. This means walking into the very environment that started addiction. However, when they have God walking beside them every day, their faith in Him will certainly be the armor needed against temptations. Getting to a place in recovery that an addict can have this kind of faith means going to a christian treatment center. The people that are there for addicts can teach them the way to have the strongest kind of faith, the kind that will be needed by those recovering while in the midst of daily temptations.
