Learning to Pray For Those with Drug and Alcohol Addictions

Dealing with someone that you love while they are in the grips of a drug or alcohol addiction is extremely stressful and trying for your patience. Many people have divorced their spouse because theyre no longer able to handle the addiction stress. Many have moved away from that loved one with an addiction, far away. Some may have changed a lot in their relationship with that addict simply because they do not know how to help this person. The best way to help an addict that you are worried about is to get them to join up a christian treatment center.

Taking the time to know what is at the root of someone's addiction can be one of the hardest things you may ever do. You may have known this addict your entire life and still have no clue what could have caused them to start abusing drugs and alcohol. The one thing that a lot of addicts have in common is the ability to bury their pain that has caused them to start down the path into an addiction. The whole point for them in taking drugs or drinking is to avoid the pain, so being willingly to talk about it is not an option for them.

For those of you that are worried sick about someone with an addiction. Your first step in helping them is to put them into God's hands. You need to pray in earnest for that addict and find others that will pray for them as well. Contact a christian treatment center near you and talk to the counselors there for advice on all the ways to get that addict to turn around and see that God is there beside them. They do not have to worry about burying their pain or their addiction as long as they have God there to support them.

Getting an addict to go and see about treatment in order to recover from the habit may be a challenge, especially when the addict is in strict denial of even having an addiction. This is where your prayers are going to help. Talking to those that are strong in their faith that God is going to make the difference will help in strengthening your faith as well. The addict that you are worrying over needs you to be as strong in faith as ever, even when they do not realize how badly they need you and your prayers. They may not realize how easily God can take away their pain.

Taking your pain to God is but a simple task for those who have a strong belief in their faith. This is why an addict needs those counselors who are at a christian treatment center more than ever. Learning to have this kind of faith in God and in them is the key to a true and successful recovery. Without faith, where would anyone be that is trying to fight a lifetime of temptations due to drugs and alcohol? The stronger your faith is, the stronger you will be in every other way as well.
