Choosing A Private Drug Rehab |

|
If you are a drug addict or family of someone who is on drugs, you may not be sure what to expect from a public or private drug rehab facility especially if you are seeking help for your loved one. You may have questions such as: Is it beneficial to my loved one to pay at least $20,000 every month with no guarantee of recovery? If you are uncertain about what is best for your loved one and your family, it may be better to explore the options that a public rehab program provides and compare it with the private one. With any program, there are no guarantees because rehabilitation has a lot to do with the individual who is on drugs. The professional administers the treatment, but then the recovering addict assumes the responsibility of staying clean. A lot of family are confused about whether to put their loved on in a publicly funded government program or a private drug rehab facility. A lot of them will opt for the obvious in the hopes of saving a few thousand dollars. However, there are various facts to take into consideration before you even can get a positive answer to these questions. The first step is to educate yourself on both private and public options. This is one of the most important aspects of the process of recovery. Most of the rehab programs that are publicly funded by the government are traditional and only provide drug therapy along with a 12 step program. Pharmaceutical companies provide the drugs for these public rehab programs to administer to the patient that is suffering from depression. So while your loved one is trying to beat the issues of drugs, they are being given more drugs to take. The only difference is that it is being administered by a trained professional instead of "off the streets." These physicians that are a part of the staff in the public rehab facility work along with the drug company to treat the drug addiction with their own drugs. Most of the treatment in a public rehab center is through group therapy sessions and less of individualized therapy. This is unfortunate because every drug addict has a different set of problems and should be given individual evaluation as well as group therapy. A private drug rehab program provides the benefits of meeting with a counselor one on one. It also offers the individual more privacy than a public facility does. Don't be fooled, though, because some private centers do provide prescribed drugs as anti-depressants, but there are a lot more options for the recovering drug addict besides prescription drugs. Not every private center, however, does this or if they do, they try to limit it as much as possible. It is best to stay away from the ones that do it too much or you will find yourself hooked on prescription drugs and the drug addiction cycle will continue. When choosing a private drug rehab program, be sure to conduct extensive research and determine your decision on the living conditions, the type of treatment and the benefits it will provide to your loved one. Comfort, structure, training, education, learning life skills, social skills and good counseling are some of the reasons to determine which you choose. It is really a matter of personal choice and what the program will eventually do to benefit your loved one. |
