Alcohol Addiction and Creativity-There is No Link
There are some people who think that alcohol makes them think creatively. Havent you heard some people saying Lets think about it over a round of drinks. Creativity as we know is the ability to plant ideas and bring them to fruition. They can be related to building up of basic ideas, doing something new and unique with a thought, an object, sounds etc. So does alcohol breed creativity? No, says a counselor with a famous alcohol treatment center in Florida. She adds, Alcohol actually makes an individual lose touch with reality, he or she may get ideas but does not have the rational state of mind to implement these ideas. In fact, the ideas may be bizarre yet fascinating and may not really look interesting enough when the same person is in a sober mood.
Alcohol tends to make a person feel sedated or sleepy, hindering the ability to focus. Now when friends meet at the backyard of the house to think upon an idea over a round of drinks, in most cases, it is seen that they end up talking rubbish or just having fun rather than actually thinking about an idea from all aspects. Drinking makes us look at the big picture indeed; we miss out on the important significant parts that make the big picture
The party circuit is a familiar territory for alcohol consumption. In fact, alcohol and party are so tightly knit, that most adults find it odd to party without alcohol. People who are addicted to alcohol temporarily lose their inhibitions which can be a crucial give-away, lose their worries and are desensitized. It creates an illusion of tension free mind and acts as temporary stress-buster with long-term damage. Alcohol treatment centers often tell incidents of people who started out as light social drinkers at a party and then sunk into addictive behavior, where they couldnt live without drinks.
The main part of the body that is affected by alcohol is the liver. As the quantity of consumption increases and the intervals between drinking decreases, the liver becomes damaged and becomes irreparable. Liver cannot be replaced easily, so it is important that people do not ruin its functioning by drinking. The sad thing to note is that people who are well-informed about these things also drink alcohol for momentary pleasure and permanent ruin.
Drinking alcohol at major occasions in a year or so may be fine but then we do not really know how much self-control a person has. When a person is not able to control the consumption, it means that he or she is addicted. We should impose self-control, if we cannot; it is better to head to an alcohol treatment center to get ourselves rehabilitated or at least get counseling on how we can prevent ourselves from drinking. Our family, our health are definitely important things and we should not shy away from taking treatment or even counseling if these things can help us become alright. Do not go by what miserable friends tell you; do not succumb to peer pressure, do your research, find out what is good for your health and your life and do what makes you healthier and creative than ever before, minus alcohol, of course.
