Alcohol Treatment Center Brought Him Back From The Brink

I had to take a moment to write your alcohol treatment center a letter of heartfelt thanks. I also wanted to tell you in words how much I owe you and how your facility has truly changed my entire life. Were it not for you and your wonderful staff of caring professionals, I do not believe my husband would have been able to overcome his addiction to alcohol.

Chris and I have been married for more than ten years, we have two young children, a beautiful home, secure jobs and lived what I thought was a “normal,” life. Chris has always been very involved in our family and enjoyed devoting time to charitable organizations, we always prided ourselves on being civic minded and did our best to better our lives and the surrounding community. We firmly believe in giving back and sharing with others, all of the many gifts God has blessed us with.

I first noticed a problem with Chris’s drinking about three years ago; there were things he was doing that were not in his nature. I have known Chris almost all my life, so when something is different I am usually the first to notice, sometimes even before he does. We have a very strong bond, but for some reason I was not able to determine exactly what the nature of the problem was. He was acting out of character, staying out late at night, leaving work early and making excuses as to where he was and what he had been doing. I knew something was going on and I had to find out what it was in order to save my family. I prayed daily for God to give me the strength and wisdom I need to handle this situation.

One night about a year and a half ago, Chris told me he was going to be late because of a business obligation, which is not abnormal. Around 3 am, the kids and I were sleeping and the phone rang and jarred me out of a deep sleep. It was the police telling me my husband had been in an accident and I was then directed to the hospital where Chris was being treated. Every possible scenario ran through my mind as I raced to get to my husband’s side

Upon arriving at the hospital, I was told my husband was in a coma, the results of a head-on wreck in which my husband had hit a telephone pole. A short time later, I was told my husband had been drinking and had a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit, I was shocked and floored. My husband was NOT an alcoholic I told myself. Three days later, Chris finally woke up; he had suffered various contusions, scrapes and a concussion but otherwise would make a full recovery. It was a true miracle he wasn’t killed or didn’t kill someone else that night!

I was not sure how I was going to confront him, but I knew his drinking was out of control and he needed to seek out an alcohol treatment center. It was the hardest moment of my life when I finally confronted him with what I suspected and now had proof of, he was drinking and out of control. Chris didn’t really respond at first but I told him that if he didn’t seek treatment that I didn’t know if our family was going to survive. I knew if my husband didn’t go to an alcohol treatment center for help, it would destroy our family and end up costing him much more than he could ever realize. I had lost one family member to alcoholism and I was not about to sit back and watch it claim my husband as well.

Chris agreed to enter Transformations Treatment Center for treatment of his alcoholism. From day one, we knew he was in the place he most needed to be. It was here that my husband addressed his alcohol problems and received counseling and therapy. Transformations also allowed us to undergo family counseling, which has helped us put our life and marriage back together again.

My husband has fought a long hard battle against alcoholism, and won thanks to the treatment he received at Transformations. He has never regretted seeking an alcohol treatment center, he continues to grow and learn each day just how precious life really is. We are given a gift in this life and with the grace and love of God; we must do whatever necessary to live life to the fullest, serving him and others. Thank you Transformations, you will never know just how much you truly helped, our family has been restored and my husband is healed.
